Paypal and its near complete monopoly over via-internet payment is ridiculous.
thedailywhat:

This Is All Kinds Of Wrong of the Day: A man who disputed the authenticity of a $2,500 antique French violin he purchased from a seller via PayPal was told by the company to destroy it in order to receive a refund.
The seller, a Regretsy reader, wrote in to the site to share his/her story in hopes that the attention will persuade PayPal to strike out the sentence in their Terms of Service which says a buyer seeking a refund may be required to destroy an item and “provide evidence of its destruction.”
The violin, which survived World War II, was reportedly “examined and authenticated by a top luthier prior to its sale.” The seller also notes that, though disputes over labels are common in the violin market, “there is no such thing” as a “counterfeit” violin.
Also, for what it’s worth, they all pretty much sound the same.

pro-anorexia. [Feminism 101] →

What they said: “Unlike most pro-mia pro-ana websites, House Of Thin does not feature any tips, tricks or thinspiration. If you are looking to become anorexic or bulimic by being here, it’s not going to happen. You cannot just wake up and become anorexic or bulimic, and by joining a pro ana mia community will not give you anorexia or bulimia. Instead we offer information on various eating disorders, plus BMI, BMR and metric calculators and news articles (written by Mandi, owner of the House Of Thin) about issues surrounding the eating disordered world. We have links to other pro-anorexic sites and forums categorized into a mini pro-ana directory.”

What Naomi Wolf said: “Yet, on the down side, [eating] disorders are now so widespread—and, in fact, almost destigmatized by such intense publiscity—that they have become virtually normal. Not only do whole sororities take for granted that bullimia is mainstream behaviour, but models now openly talk to Glamour magazine about their starvation regimes” (Naomi Wolf. 2002. “The Beaty Myth: HowImages of Beauty are Used Against Women”. (New York: HarperCollins) halaman 6)

Swing Design Concept of the Day: “Swing Lamp” by Boaz Cohen and Sayaka Yamamoto AKA BCXSY.

Built from polyethylene and powered by LEDs, this creative lamp hangs from a rope, just like the traditional swings we all remember.

Delightful!
